Michel MARGUERAY was born on September
23, 1938 in Landelles, in Calvados.
Brightly colored umbrellas and blankets dot the beaches of Normandy and
Brittany as bathers scurry into the salty waves. Michel Margueray creates
characters that seem to invite us to enjoy the brilliant sun, cool breeze
and blue skies of a summer day. Long, delicate strokes and a spectrum of
blue electrify the waves, lapping against ancient boats on the water.
Docks and harbors are a main theme in Margueray’s scenes. He breathes
life into his land- and seascapes.
Such as an explorer constantly in quest of strong sensations, the love of
the sea drags Margueray in a sea of love. The desire becomes, in a way,
the compass of his quest. Desire is in the look, especially when the
artist's hand caresses the soil of France and organizes a rendezvous with
the canvas.
His mastery of light adds an intensity and depth to his scenes, visions of
Normandy, Brittany and various parts of Italy. Born in Landelles, France,
in 1938, Margueray has been a member of the Artistes Francais at Paris
since 1982, Salon de la Society National of Fine Arts, and the Marine
Salon Paris. He is a member of the National Fine Art and a member of the
Society of Bas Normand Pain.
